The mission of the Healthy Holmes County Coalition is to inspire passion within individuals and organizations to embrace and integrate quality nutrition and physical activity as part of their daily lives to improve the health and well-being of the community. The Coalition is a collaborative group of individuals and organizations with representation from Active Chiropractic, Ohio State University Extension Service, Pomerene Hospital, Wayne-Holmes Mental Health and Recovery Board, Holmes County Prevention Coalition, and the Holmes County Health District, Job and Family Services, Park District, and Planning Commission. The Coalition has successfully pooled resources across members to sponsor programs promoting healthy eating and active lifestyles to the community.

Our work is supported by the Ohio Department of Health through the Child and Family Health Services grant to the Wayne-Holmes Mental Health and Recovery Board. The purpose of the grant is to promote child and adolescent health, increase access to care, assess the health needs of families, and plan initiatives to address the needs identified. Data from multiple sources have shown poor dietary behaviors and sedentary lifestyles are needs in Holmes County and coalition members have selected this as our focus area.
